wozwaste

It will be great to have Catherine from WOZWASTE at Ecofest for the first time this year.

Wozwaste has a great range of products custom made from waste reclaimed from landfill, commercial waste and general waste materials.

It’s also fabulous to know that Fair trading principles are used in all their negotiations with local artisians in Indonesia.

Have a peek at their website here to see some of the great products they will be bringing along.

upcycled softie love

Are you a crafty-type? if it’s a’ yes’  then we have a challenge for you!

SEND US YOUR SOFTIES!!

We are asking for people send us a homemade softie to be sold at our ecofest.

Money from the softies will go towards water tanks for the church, cutting down on the community’s water useage.

Spread the word, invite your friends, and get sewing.

The what’s and how’s….

Your beautiful softies should;

-be sent to “Ecofest at Western Heights, 27-31 Douglass St, Herne Hill, Geelong, 3218″ by the end of September.

-include some sort of upcycled/repurposed materials

- be clean and ready to go to a new home

participants will receive a small thankyou gift in response to their generous donation, along with a badge for your blog that says “i made a softie for ecofest!”

(you’ll need to include your postage address and an email address with your softie)

And if you are in Geelong, come along on Saturday the 9th of October and check out everyone’s creations.

What’s upcycling?

upcycling is the creative goodness of taking something that has been used before and creating something new and wonderful with it.

a wikipedia definition here

You might find some vintage fabric in an op shop and bring it together with some other materials to make a new skirt, or you may felt a jumper and make gloves, toys or a cape from it!

What’s a softie?

a softie is a soft toy, handmade with love. It could be an owl, a bear, a cat, a monster, an elephant, a bird… any number of things. It is soft and loveable.

What’s the love?

the love is you giving your creative energy to this project

Thanks- we look forward to receiving some upcycled softie love – any questions email ecofest.wh@gmail.com

calling for ‘green-market’ stallholders!

we’re looking for stall holders – are you keen?

a large part of our ecofest will be our green market. We are hoping to have stall holders locally and from further afield come along and spruik their wares.

we’re asking for people who have products/information that is either – organic, upcycled/recycled/repurposed, made from natural products, fairtrade, or provides a better environmental solution.

have a look at our market conditions pdf (on the pages -  both on the sidebar and on a tab at the top of this blog- next to about) to find more about how you can be involved. also find the rego form there and send that through to us to secure your market stall.

most of our market stalls will be indoors – unless you request other wise!

get on board early and get a good spot.
