Nicole Rowan is coming to talk with us about Solar Energy. She works for Greenline Engineering in Anakie. There will be a devotional time woven into the time, reminding us of our interconnectedness with the earth. If you want to know more about harnessing solar power for your home or for the church or work or wherever, do come along!

Veggie burgers & the 5pm project

Our traditional ‘fete style sausage sizzle’ at ecofest will be largely made up of some great vegie burgers, kangaroo sausages and a few other sustainable or organic options.

We will be making and freezing a large number of vegie burgers in preparation for ecofest – and will have to sample a few along the way.

Some come along for cooking and eating this sunday night to the 5pm project.

Details:

The 5pm Project takes place at Western Heights Uniting Church (Horizons room behind the main worship centre – enter through carpark side) on the 2nd and 4th sunday of each month at (strangely enough) 5pm.

crochet anyone?

At this Sunday’s 5pm project, we will be learning to (or teaching) crochet or knit dishcloths, so that we can all make a few to sell at Ecofest, to raise money for green projects we have planned for the church.  They will be made from cotton, which is biodegradeable, you can even bury them in your backyard when they have worn out.  I’ve had some for a few years, and they’re still going strong  I use them once or twice, then wash and dry and they’re ready to go again.  So come along and learn or teach a new skill.

The 5pm project takes place on the second & fourth sunday of the month at Western Heights Uniting Church, 31 Douglass St, Herne Hill – at 5pm!
